Last ethnic map before the breakup of Yugoslavia in 1991. Serbs were the largest ethnic group of the country followed by Croats and Bosniaks.
The number and distribution of the Albanians is only estimated because almost all of them boycotted the census following a call by Ibrahim Rugova (politican) to boycott Serbian institutions.
