American Civil War casualities by state

The American Civil War (1862-1865) was fought between the "Northern Sates" also called "the Union" and the Confederate States (Confederacy) who decided to leave the Union and form their own country.

Overall, the civil war took more than 600,000 lives and resulted in the victory of the Union. The Confederare States and slavery were both abolished and the integrity of the United States was preserved.
